‘Mad Men’ recap: The High Life

It was Derby Day on the island, which meant the creatives were stuck working in the city and the muckety mucks trotted off to the country club to watch Roger serenade his new bride in black face. And what a prize, that girl. I like, or at least feel real tremendous affection and sympathy, for all of the characters on this show. All except silly, self-entitled Jane. The bird returned to the Sterling Coop earlier in the episode and we were treated to a killer reunion between Jane and Joan. Jane was dressed to the nines like a joker from a stack of cards. After Joan bathed her in a plume of cigarette smoke, Jane’s neck chords tightened ever so slightly before she sing-songed back ”Roger had my rings resized. I keep losing weight.” She played a cruel ace by giving Joan a mundane task before she turned and swished off to meet her sugar daddy. Joan stared stoney-eyed after her and I was reminded that nobody gives better frozen face than Christina Hendricks.

It was an evening of warring impulses, people either grasping at outdated traditions or finding freedom in experimentation. Somewhere in the middle were those who aren’t after power but rather a little dignity in their modest lives. Joan came to the sad realization that her marriage wasn’t some fantasy endzone. Readying her apartment for a dinner party, she lectured her husband, whose triangular torso in that tight white tee and belted khakis made him look like Brando’s understudy in Streetcar, on the expectations of Emily Post. It was no surprise that Joan was as smooth playing host at home as she is in the office, and the doctors’ wives were impressed. ”The fact that Greg can get a woman like you makes me feel good about his future,” one told her. Joan, glancing up from the roast she was preparing for men who laughed at fart jokes, looked uncharacteristically vulnerable. But what of her future?

How to beat the vegas odds vegas nightmare

With the football season right around the corner, and to all of us who seek an inside edge on the spread. I have found something that has the online bookmakers shaking in their boots. “The Vegas Nightmare” is attracting media attention from everywhere. If you haven’t heard of it, i’ll break it down for you:

A market where millions of dollars are being made every day is getting bigger in the US and there are a few people not too happy about it. Making money could not be harder for most people out there, but evidently there are a number of people making big money, and some big companies out there are doing their best to keep it quiet.

Break before you get Broke

Break before you get Broke

If Vegas and online bookmakers didn’t already have enough to worry about with the slumping economy, the newest threat to their bottom-line is creating a massive frenzy around the world and people are lining up to start waging the assault. What is now being called, “The Vegas Nightmare” is attracting media attention from everywhere.

When taking a closer look, it’s understandable why they are trying to minimize the exposure, the impact on the bottom-line revenue of several operations is estimated to be in the millions of dollars a day! The mass appeal of the business starts with the fact that clients are doing the business from their homes, they are not selling anything, and appears easy to get started, the catch is, they limit the amount of clients they bring on, and nobody knows the magic number. The company does very little marketing, if any, yet, we have verified they have clients literally in every corner of the world.

It gets even more interesting, when fishing around for more details about the impact the company is having on the market, there were several prominent players both online and in the US who refused to comment, an industry source, said,

“Take a math genius, take a billion-dollar market, eventually they are going to find a way to get their piece of it. We just didn’t plan on him having clients.”

It is unclear at this time how long this will be offered to the general public but the frenzy has officially begun in the US, with no end in sight. To get a first-hand look at this hysteria, go BREAK THE BANK

Police Women of Broward County

Follow the lives of four strong women in TLC’s new series Police Women of Broward County at 9:00 pm Pacific time on Thursday nights.  These hard charging, hard hitting women take down criminals while caring for their families and friends.

Andrea Penoyer is an intelligent 26-year old who uses any tactic necessary in order to take down criminals daily.

Julie Bower is a 48 year old detective and mother of 3 who works the night shift tracking down murderers, rapists, and gang-bangers.

Ana Murillo is 29 years old and works in the most dangerous parts of Broward County in a surveillance unit waiting for drug deals and other crimes to occur.  Once they do, this hard charging woman sets out to prove that she is as good as any man on the force.

Shelunda Cooper is the legacy-cop rookie at 25 years old, following the footsteps of her twin sister.

These women give the cameras glimpses into their professional lives as well as their personal thoughts, but every minute of every episode is more than entertaining.  The viewer feels the adrenaline rush as these women take down criminals with force and escort them to jail.  Deep throated screams of “GET DOWN!! DOWN ON THE GROUND!!” will have you out of your seat begging for the suspect to take a swing at these women so you can watch them kick the shit out of these belligerent crooks.

Don’t miss this ground breaking series that provides an unprecedented look at women in law enforcement.  Next time you see a female cop, you may want to think twice about what you think you can get away with, because if they’re anything like these women you will regret providing resistance.

2009 Little League World Series Finals

The bases are loaded, game tied 10 to 10, with no outs in the bottom of the 6th inning; Batter takes the box and looks the pitcher in the eye, a look of grit and determination beyond his years piercing the thrower’s resolve.  The pitcher winds up and flings the ball towards the plate at 70 miles per hour, but it’s wide to the left.  The catcher leaps towards it, trying to save his team from defeat, while the pitcher runs to home plate to stop the winning run from scoring.  Unfortunately, the runner on third sprints home with his head down and gingerly taps home base to win the game.  The boys in blue leap up and down in celebration while the boys in yellow hang their heads low and tears flow from their eyes as they realize defeat.

This isn’t a new movie coming out this fall; it is the end of the semifinal game between Chula Vista, CA and Warner Robins, GA in the Little League World Series.  These games have been fast paced, hard hitting, and full of defensive double plays.  This tournament will make you want to get up out of your chair and cheer in the middle of your living room for your favorite team.

The Premise: The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.
